Getting started
A short overview of the main areas of the app and the basic note creation flow.
Demo
The demo runs in the browser with sample notes. It does not require an account and does not sync.
The layout
Takt keeps navigation, search, and editing in one workspace:
- Sidebar. A slim icon rail: New note, Home (the house icon, labelled with today's date), Search, Pinned, Tags, Attachments, Done, and Trash, plus your pinned items. Expand it to show labels, and customise which entries appear.
- Location bar. The field above the content area controls where you are: type a view name, a tag, operators, or plain text.
- Main area. Lists, tag spaces, settings, and the editor all open in the same central surface.
Notes and views open as a strip of tabs. Expand a tab into a full pane — or several side by side — and collapse any pane into a slim spine to keep it handy. ⇧ + Click a link to open it in a new pane beside the current one. See Commands & shortcuts for the tab and pane keys.
Your first note
- Press ⌘ N from anywhere — a new note opens.
- Type the note text. Add a
#tagif needed. - Set a reminder or deadline from the note's metadata bar, or with ⌘ K.
- That's it — there is no save step.
There is no separate "save" step. Takt writes to its local database as you type.
Next steps
- Learn the editor — slash commands, markdown shortcuts, tables, images.
- Understand tasks and the agenda view.
- Use the omnibar for search, filters, and navigation.
- Review the keyboard shortcuts.
