Tags

Takt uses tags instead of folders. A note can have multiple tags, tags can be nested, and searches can combine several tags.

Adding tags

Type # followed by the tag name inside the editor, or in the location bar when creating a note from it. Autocomplete suggests existing tags as you type.

You can also click the tag area in a note's metadata bar and pick from a list.

Nested tags

Use slashes to nest. #work/clients/acme creates three levels in one go: a note tagged this way appears under work, work/clients, and work/clients/acme.

Nesting is an organisational layer. You can rename or move tag branches from the tag management view.

Tag colours

Each tag gets a colour from a 24-colour palette. By default the colour is derived from the tag name. Child tags inherit their parent's hue with variation.

You can override any tag's colour from the tag management view.

The tags hub

Open the tags hub from the sidebar to see every tag at once: counts, colours, and the option to rename, delete, or merge. Renaming a tag updates every note that uses it. If you rename a tag to one that already exists, Takt asks you to confirm a merge — every note on the old tag moves to the existing one.

Searching by tag

From the omnibar, type #work to open a tag space, or combine: #work is:task deadline:tomorrow. See Omnibar & search for the full query syntax.
