Tasks & agenda
In Takt, a task is a note with completion state and optional deadline fields. Tasks can still contain normal note content.
Turning a note into a task
Toggle the task switch in the note header, or use /checkbox
inside the editor to create a task list.
Deadlines and reminders
A task can have two kinds of date:
- Deadline — when something is due. Overdue tasks are marked clearly.
- Reminder — when you'd like to be reminded, regardless of the deadline.
Set either from the date picker on the task, from the command palette (⌘ K), or from the task's context menu.
Done state
Click the checkbox to mark a task done. Takt stores the completion time,
which can be queried with operators such as completed:today.
The Home view
Takt's home surface — the house icon in the sidebar, labelled with today's
date — gathers task deadlines and reminders on a day-by-day timeline. You
can also reach it from the omnibar with home,
agenda, today, upcoming, or
daily.
How it's grouped
Items are bucketed along a timeline:
- Today — today's deadlines and reminders, plus anything overdue (rolled up in a collapsible Overdue strip), a Done strip for what you finished, and the notes you worked on.
- Tomorrow.
- Each following day, listed individually…
- …up to Later — a single bucket for everything roughly two weeks out and beyond.
Completed tasks stay visible for the rest of the day, then drop off the
active views. You can find them again with is:completed or
the Done view.
Snoozing
If a reminder is not relevant now, snooze it. Takt moves the reminder to the selected date.
Tasks inside notes
A note can contain a task list created with /checkbox. Those
checklist items can be completed in place and can be opened as nested
task notes.
