Omnibar & search

The omnibar is the search field at the top of the workspace. It handles search, navigation keywords, tags, operators, and full boolean queries.

Free text

Type a word or phrase to search across a note's title, body, tags, and headings (attachment file names are part of the body, so they match too). Search is accent- and case-insensitive, and results update as you type. Several words are combined with an implicit AND — every word must appear.

Operators

Operators take the form key:value. They combine with each other and with free-text terms.

Type

is:notePlain notes only
is:taskTasks only
is:completed / is:doneTasks marked done
is:uncompleted / is:openTasks not yet done
is:link / is:imageNotes containing a link / an image
is:textPlain notes with no link, image, or attachment

Typed on their own, is:today, is:upcoming, and is:agenda jump to the Home view, and is:tags opens the tags hub.

Tags

#workNotes with the work tag (or any nested child)
#work/clientsNotes in a specific subtag
#wo*Tag prefix wildcard (at least two letters before *)
-#workExclude a tag
#work OR #homeEither tag

Has / no

has:reminder / no:reminderItems with or without a reminder
has:attachment / no:attachmentItems that do (or don't) reference a file
has:tags / no:tagsItems with any tag / with none
has:link / has:imageItems containing a link / an image
has:subtasks / has:open-subtasksNotes with nested tasks / with unfinished ones

Dates

There are two families of date operators, each with its own values.

Deadlines and reminders — deadline: (alias due:) and reminder: (alias scheduled:):

deadline:today / deadline:tomorrowA specific day
deadline:this week / deadline:next weekThis week (includes anything overdue) / next week
deadline:overdue / deadline:pastPast-due items
deadline:none / deadline:anyMissing or present
deadline:2026-06-01Exact ISO date
deadline:before:2026-06-01 / deadline:after:2026-06-01Open-ended ISO range

Timestamps — created:, edited:, and completed: (using completed: implies a finished task):

created:today / created:yesterdayA specific day
edited:this week / edited:last weekRelative week (also this month / last month)
completed:after:2026-06-01 / completed:before:2026-06-01Open-ended ISO range

Bare before: and after: (no prefix) filter by the created date.

Location

in:trashInclude the trash
in:titleMatch the following text in titles only

Boolean queries

Free-text search understands a small boolean grammar. As soon as a query contains OR, AND, NOT, or parentheses, it is parsed as an expression:

Precedence is NOT, then AND, then OR. Operators such as is:, #tag, and the date filters can appear anywhere inside the expression.

Combining

Operators stack. A few examples:

Saved searches

You can save a query and pin it to the sidebar. A saved search keeps its name, an optional reminder, and the view arrangement (grouping and sort) you had at the time; you can also give it tags to organise it.

Autocomplete

The omnibar autocompletes tags (#) with inline ghost text, and suggests operators as you type is:, in:, deadline:, reminder:, created:, edited:, or completed:. Use ↑ ↓ to pick a suggestion and Tab to accept.
